    What happens when you drop force and replace it with flow – how can flying and falling becomes effortless, and emerges naturally from listening rather than forcing it?

    In this weekend workshop we will explore the dynamic relationship between gravity, momentum, timing, and flow within Contact Improvisation. Through technical exercises, movement research, and improvisational scores, we will investigate how to move in and out of states of falling and lifting with greater ease, sensitivity, and awareness.

    We will work with principles such as spirals, suspension, redirection of force, and the continuous dialogue between groundedness and flight. Rather than approaching lifts and dynamic movement through strength alone, we will explore how efficiency, connection, and clear communication can create moments that feel fluid, light, and organic.
     
    Open for practitioners with previous experience in Contact Improvisation who wish to deepen their technical skills, expand their movement vocabulary, and cultivate more confidence and freedom within dynamic dancing.

    meet your tEACHER 

    TOM GOLDHAND

    I am a performance artist, dancer, and dance teacher specializing in Dance and Contact Improvisation.

    After completing my studies I moved to Amsterdam and co-founded Mono Collective together with five other performance artists — a group that creates both free and structured dance pieces.

    In recent years, I’ve been performing and leading workshops focused on the techniques of Improvisation in Dance and Contact.

    I’ve been teaching Contact Improvisation and dance for over 20 years across the globe, at internationally recognized festivals and dance training programs.

    All of the above are just words to say, quite simply — Contact Improvisation is my passion, and I love sharing it with everyone.
