One of the best compliments a contact dancer can receive is – “you are light as a feather”, another good indication to one technique is how we land on the floor, both these partners (the human one and the floor beneath our feet) teaches us how to refine our movement and dance.
In this Intensive Contact Improvisation workshop we will practice and investigate how to be light as a feather and to land quietly on the floor like a cat, we will learn to use our entire body – muscles, bones and joints in order to achieve this not so easy task.
Limited places available – Registration is required.
(in the last 10 years we were fully booked 3 weeks in advance)

n this workshop we will learn to work together and to respond to each other’s invitations for lifts as a base (the “under-dancer”) and flyer (the “over-dancer”).
The more you are able to connect with the ground and sense your own weight, the better you will be able to lift your partner. The other side of this art is to become light and allow your partner to lift you out of the “flow of the dance”, rather than using a lot of muscle- force.
Renate and Tom will facilitate and teach you how to safely and enjoyably lift and be lifted by your partner.

In this 3 day workshop we will take the time to expand our Contact Improvisation duet and add to it another partner or even partners. Most of the people with experience in this form are accustmed to dance in a duet, with one partner sharing our weight and movement pathways – once adding another element to this mix, there are very different elements to consider and to adjust and balance.
In this special workshop we will start from our classical duet and slowly add elements to it in the form of other partners.

HUMAN MOVES – FROM FLOORWORK TO HIGHER GROUND
Spiral is one of the key aspects in Contact Improvisation and in movement in general, it can be found in any living being – from our double helix DNA to our patterns, movement’s formation and structural building.
In this workshop we will learn to harness this structure, to better understand it and to build with it a stronger, more fluid way of movement. We will discover new hidden pathways that lay dormant in our body, that once opens will transform our dance into higher levels.

In this 3 day workshop we will go deeply into the ground, deeply into the sensation of grounding into your bones and from there start the journey up, up up. By the end of the workshop we will see how we will be flying on a partner in a safe way, and how to feel secure and to ride this flow as one body.

Coming back to our moving bodies in the nature of Greece. Sensing and listening, communicating through touch. Reconnecting to ourselves, and our nature as playful beings. We will take time to slow down, to breath, to reconnect to our spontaneity, playfulness, and joy of movement.
During the week of Contact Improvisation training we will work both technically – focusing on understanding the underlying physical principles of contact improvisation.
