Welcome to the unknown territories of your body, your movement, and your dance.
This workshop is designed for dancers with an existing movement practice and Contact Improvisation experience who are curious to expand their physical vocabulary beyond familiar patterns. Through guided explorations, technical research, and improvisational scores, we will investigate movement pathways through space – moving up and down, accelerating and decelerating, spiraling, falling, flying, yielding, and redirecting momentum.
A central focus of the weekend will be the exploration of spherical movement and three-dimensional pathways within Contact Improvisation. Rather than relying on fixed forms, we will discover how lifts, weight-sharing, and partnering can emerge through listening, timing, momentum, and the intelligence of the shared dance.
Together we will venture into unfamiliar areas of movement and encounter unexpected possibilities in relation with others. These moments of not-knowing can become a source of creativity, sensitivity, and new technical discoveries.
Throughout the weekend, we will be working in a beautiful 220 m² studio equipped with tatami mats, offering a spacious and supportive environment for movement research, floor work, lifting, falling, and dynamic partnering.
By the end of the weekend, you may find that what once felt unfamiliar has become embodied. New pathways of lifting, spiraling, falling, and flying may have become part of your movement vocabulary and available to you in future dances.
We warmly invite you to join us in Cologne for a weekend of exploration, research, and play. Bring your experience, your curiosity, and a willingness to step beyond what you already know, and discover what new dances emerge when we meet the unknown together.

I am a performance artist, dancer, and dance teacher specializing in Dance and Contact Improvisation.
After completing my studies I moved to Amsterdam and co-founded Mono Collective together with five other performance artists — a group that creates both free and structured dance pieces.
In recent years, I’ve been performing and leading workshops focused on the techniques of Improvisation in Dance and Contact.
I’ve been teaching Contact Improvisation and dance for over 15 years across the globe, at internationally recognized festivals and dance training programs.
All of the above are just words to say, quite simply — Contact Improvisation is my passion, and I love sharing it with everyone.
