How can we move with less effort by aligning ourselves with the forces of nature?
What conditions allow acrobatic elements to arise in the dance in a fluid, organic way?
In this workshop, we will explore the delicate meeting point between stability and mobility, and how the balance between them enables a dance in which acrobatic elements emerge naturally rather than feeling forced.
Throughout the process, we will deepen into the biomechanics of the body as a source of valuable information, discovering how refining bodily awareness can enhance both our internal experience and our external communication.
From this foundation, we will learn different forms of lifts and look closely at the roles of both flyer and base. during the practice, we will explore how to better use the musculoskeletal system so that lifts can unfold with more flow and less effort.
By practicing these structured lifts, we will internalize the principles that make them possible, and then—opening into the dance—enjoy seeing them reappear in new and evolving shapes, fluidly and organically.
The workshop blends individual research with shared work in pairs and groups.
We will bridge somatic awareness with acrobatic exploration, integrating sensation and action, passivity and activity, softness and strength.
Within this space of exploration, we will invite the unfamiliar—and hopefully experience and express that which cannot be spoken.
